As the core computing engine of an HMI assembly, this logic module mounts directly to the back of a compatible PanelView Plus 6 display module (ranging from 7-inch to 15-inch screen sizes).

By separating the control logic from the physical flat-panel display, Allen-Bradley provides a modular design that allows maintenance teams to upgrade processing power or transition power configurations independently of the display. The 2711P-RP8D executes critical real-time application runtime files, coordinates multi-protocol network communication, processes operator inputs, and drives the graphic rendering engine.

The 2711P-RP8D runs on a stable Windows CE 6.0 operating system environment, customized for industrial applications. The panel supports remote connectivity via Virtual Network Computing (VNC) and File Transfer Protocol (FTP) servers, giving engineers the ability to shadow the HMI screen or modify setup variables securely from an office PC. It supports seamless recipe modifications on the fly through standard .csv flat-file transfers.

The module comes equipped with standard physical interfaces, including high-speed RJ45 10/100 Ethernet, dual USB host ports, a USB device port, and a built-in Secure Digital (SD) card slot for flexible external memory expansion.
