The ICS Triplex T8314C serves as a critical bridge in the Trusted TMR system, enabling high-speed data exchange over long distances. This unit primary function involves receiving Pseudo Emitter Coupled Logic (PECL) signals from the Trusted Expander Interface and converting them into optical pulses. By utilizing fiber-optic technology, the T8314C eliminates electrical noise interference and ground loop issues that typically affect copper-based remote links. Furthermore, the unit supports single-mode fiber, which allows for significant physical separation between the main controller chassis and remote I/O expander racks without degrading signal timing or quality.

Robust Architecture and Redundancy

Engineered for maximum uptime, the T8314C architecture supports the fault-tolerant nature of the Regent and Trusted platforms. A standard remote link installation employs six of these units—three at the local end and three at the remote end—to maintain triple modular redundancy across the fiber bridge. Each module operates independently, powered by dual-redundant 24V DC inputs. Because each transceiver is a standalone node, technicians can perform hot-swapping procedures to replace a unit while the system remains live, ensuring that process control stays active during maintenance cycles.
