The ABB IMASI03 is a high-density Analog Input Slave module designed for the Bailey Infi 90 and Harmony Rack (HR) Series automation platforms. This module provides precise conversion of various field signals into digital data for processing by the system’s primary controller.

Universal Analog Signal Acquisition

The IMASI03 module functions as a versatile interface for a broad range of industrial sensors and transmitters. It accepts multiple input types, including millivolt signals, thermocouples, and Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs), as well as standard 4-20mA current loops. By centralizing these diverse signal types onto a single hardware interface, the module eliminates the need for multiple specialized boards. Furthermore, the integrated Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) ensures high resolution and accuracy, which is vital for maintaining tight control loops in chemical processing, power generation, and refining applications.

System Architecture and Communication

As part of the Harmony Rack Series, the IMASI03 operates as a slave unit under the management of a Master Controller module. The board communicates via the internal Cabinet I/O bus, facilitating rapid data updates to the supervisory control level. This architecture supports high-speed scanning of all 15 input channels, ensuring that the Distributed Control System (DCS) reflects real-time field conditions. Additionally, the module features built-in cold-junction compensation for thermocouple inputs, which enhances measurement stability without requiring external reference equipment.
