The HIMA HIMatrix F3 DIO 16/8 01 functions as a high-integrity remote I/O interface designed to expand the signal reach of HIMax and HIMatrix safety systems. This module enables distributed safety logic by bridging field-level sensors and actuators with the central safety controller over a secure network.

High-Integrity Safety Switching and I/O Capacity

This module features a robust hardware configuration consisting of 16 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs. To ensure the highest level of reliability, the 8 outputs utilize a two-pole design where two internal switches connect in series—one to L+ and one to L-. This architecture creates a redundant shutdown path, significantly reducing the risk of a “fail-to-function” scenario. Furthermore, the unit provides two pulsed outputs to support loop monitoring and cross-circuit detection for the input channels.

The F3 DIO 16/8 01 utilizes the safeethernet protocol to maintain deterministic and secure communication with the main safety processor. Because the module carries TÜV certification, it supports safety functions up to SIL 3 per IEC 61508. Its rugged metal housing and Ex-zone 2 approval allow for safe installation in hazardous process environments, such as chemical plants and offshore platforms.
